Frequently asked questions
We received a desk audit letter. What should we do?
Within the deadline stated in the letter (usually 5 days) you must submit a reasoned written explanation or an amended return. If you don't reply, the tax authority may recalculate your liabilities. Send us the letter and we'll find the cause of the discrepancy and prepare the reply.
How long do I have when the tax authority requests documents?
Under Article 42.4 of the Tax Code, requested documents must be provided within 10 business days. Late or misleading information carries a financial penalty of AZN 1,000 (Article 57.3).
How much interest is charged on late tax?
Interest of 0.1% is charged on the unpaid amount for each day of delay, so paying on time matters.
When must a business leave the simplified tax regime?
When turnover exceeds AZN 200,000 over any 12 consecutive months. Above the threshold only catering businesses may stay on simplified tax (at 8%). We track your turnover monthly and warn you in advance as you approach the limit.
